SELF-IDENTITY ESTABLISHMENT OF MAIN CHARACTER IN JUNGLE BOOK MOVIE DIRECTED BY JON FAVREAU

ABSTRACT 

Nur Avida Zalki (31160020), “Self-Identity Establishment of Main

Character in Jungle Book Movie Directed by Jon Favreau” 

The purpose of this study was to discuss about self-identity establishment of main

character in Jungle Book movie, especially from the types of identity, the process

of searching the self-identity development, and the components of achieving the

self-identity. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The data were

collected through the movie which was repeatedly watched and analyzed by the

writer. The results of this study exposed some types of identity, identity

formation, development phase, and the components to achieve the self-identity. It

could be found that self-identity is about the unique sense of ourselves and our

relationship with the nature or with the people in the world when we have

decided to become who we wanted to be. Self-identity was not always restricted

to the present, but also including the person’s past selves and their future selves,

so the connection between each other are still keep gradually building up until the

time being. In this study was also contained moral messages to knew more about

our own self and human still could have done more than just destroy, which was

for keep the environment clean, along with the other creatures as well can kept

the nature to flourishing on Earth.
