Abstract

The Rural Credit Bank (BPR) financial institutions are related to small and medium enterprises

(UMKM). UMKM have been the main customers of BPR business partners since the 1998 crisis,

UMKM are considered resilient to make a major contribution to the national economy. During

the COVID-19 Pandemic, large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) were imposed on UMKM, one

of the most affected businesses. The turnover of UMKM businesses decreased even some were

unable to operate plus declining purchasing power of the community. To determine changes in

credit performance to profitability, research methods use qualitative descriptive, bpr research

objects nationally. Data for August 2019 to August 2020 during the COVID-19 Pandemic. BPR

credit growth during the COVID-19 pandemic at the end of August 2020, experienced growth

although not a large 1.28%. BPR credit quality performance as measured by non-performing

loan (NPL) ratio is also affected by covid-19 pandemic, as a result the number of non-current

loans is increasing and the NPL ratio is increasing. The lack of optimal credit performance and

increased NPL ratio, plus credit rescue efforts, resulted in a decrease in the number of credit

fund receipts that have been distributed to customers. The receipt of credit installment funds

decreased and delayed, impacting the decrease in credit income and overall resulting in BPR

ability to earn profit before tax. This decreased the profitability performance of the August 2020

ROA ratio of -16.02% compared to December 2019.
