Abstract
The Jakarta Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights is a government agency engaged in the
field of law and human rights servants. The recent increase of legal cases requires adequate staffing to support
the implementation of agency work. The Jakarta Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights is in
desperate need of human resources who are able to work professionally and are also qualified. This study aims
to determine the effect of employee work performance in the Jakarta Ministry of Law and Human Rights
regional office on promotion. This research can be categorized as quantitative descriptive research. The
sampling technique uses purposive sampling method with a total sample of 40 respondents. Data collection
technique used is questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability. The data analysis technique used
to answer the hypothesis of this research is linear regression test. The results showed that the employee work
performance in the Jakarta Ministry of Law and Human Rights regional office positively and significantly
affected the promotion. The correlation coefficient is 0.778, meaning that the relationship between the two
variables studied is very strong. Based on the value of the summary model, it can be seen that the R square value
is 0.605, meaning that 60% of job promotions are influenced by employee work performance.
