Strategi Pengembangan Pariwisata Edukasi di Kota Yogyakarta

Buku ini mengulas secara singkat, padat, dan jelas pariwisata, pendidikan, dan pendidikan pariwisata. Pariwisata dan pendidikan merupakan dua hal berbeda namun mempunyai kolaborasi yang sangat kuat dan saling bersinergis. Pendidikan merupakan stakeholder yang mempunyai peranan yang sangat kuat dalam menyiapkan SDM yang dibutuhkan untuk membangun pariwisata yang berkelanjutan dan mampu meningkatakan perekonomian masyarakat setempat, salah satunya pariwisata pendidikan. Adapun pariwisata pendidikan tumbuh untuk menjawab kebutuhan wisatawan yang mempunyai minat berwisata dengan mendapatkan pengalaman pembelajaran dalam setiap aktivitas wisata. Pariwista pendidikan mempunyai segmen pasar yang sangat potensial dan telah menjadi menjadi agenda rutin tahunann bagi banyak institusi di bidang pendidikan. Pariwisata pendidikan mampu meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran melalui pendalaman materi yang diperolah di ruang teori. Selain itu, pariwisata pendidikan memberikan nuansa pembelajaran yang berbeda dengan pemberajaran pada ruang teori, yakni pembelajaran yang menyenangkan, aktif, fleksibel, dan tidak membosankan. Berangkat dari fenomena tersebut, pengelolan pariwisata pendidikan menjadi isu yang sangat strategis. Pengelolaan pariwisata saat ini, pada umumnya masih bertumpu pada trial  and error. Pengelolaan yang bertumpu pada trial and error tersebut disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor, diantaranya perencanaan yang masih lemah dan keterbatasan sumber daya. Model pengelolaan pariwisata edukasi seperti ini cukup riskan karena dapat memberikan informasi yang tidak akurat tentang realitas objektif di lapangan. Pariwisata pendidikan yang tematik harus dibangun untuk meningkatkan jumlah wisatawan dan lama tinggal wisatawan. Buku ini menyajikan beberapa model pengelolaan pariwiasta edukasi, yang diharapkan mampu diimplementasikan dalam mewujudkan pariwisata pendidikan yang tematik dan responsif terhadap produk dan pasar pariwisata.
