The study has highlighted the significant role that
Sundanese plays in English language teaching in West
Java. While some challenges are associated with language
interference and over-reliance on the mother tongue,
the benefits in student comprehension and engagement
cannot be overlooked.
Using regional languages such as
Sundanese in English language teaching can help students
overcome the challenges of learning a second language. By
using the local language as a tool to explain concepts in
English, students can more easily understand the material,
feel more comfortable, and reduce anxiety while learning.
In addition, this approach can create a more inclusive
learning environment by appreciating the students' local
languages and cultures
