Satrio Giri Marwanto (44231843), An Analysis on News Framing on 10 Years of Jokowi's Administration in Online Media Antaranews.com and Tempo.co Magazine

 

This research probed news articles published in media outlets antaranews.com and Tempo.co Magazine on 10 Years of Jokowi's Administration. Policy differences demonstrated in each media outlet played an important role in selecting both outlets. This research aimed to analyse news framing and curating perspective in both media. The theory used is Robert N. Entman's framing analysis. This theory explains that framing has a significant impact on political communication, thus giving rise to various reactions from the audience. Robert N Entman outlines four elements of framing: defining the problem, diagnosing the cause, making a moral judgment, and recommending a treatment. Antaranews gave the audience a glowing reference on Jokowi's administration, focusing on economic and infrastructure achievement. Tempo Magazine is on the opposite side, highlighting repetitively the failures on National Strategic Projects (PSN).
