THE USE OF IDIOM IN THE RISE OF SKY WALKER MOVIE DIRECTED BY J.J ABRAMS

Idioms are a type of linguistic element that provide distinctiveness and carry meaningthat is different from that of
words. The use of idioms in English discourse is still relatively new, and most learners take them for granted. This
research aims to identifythe different types of idioms in the movie The Rise of Sky Walker. The field of this study is
qualitative research that uses a movie script as the main data source. The study's findings indicate a variety of
idioms. The analysis identified 4 types of idiomsaccording to Boatner and Gates’s theory, with the most common
being our Lexemic Idiom, andPhraseologicalIdiom, each with 17 instances out of the total 21 data. Thesetwo types
of Idioms are tied for the highest frequency. This indicates a significant influence from external languages and a
preference for shorter, more direct forms of digital communication. Additionally, Lexemic Idioms (4 Instances),
Phraseological Idioms (13 Instances), Frozen Idioms (2 Instances), and Proverbs (2 Instances) highlight the
richness and diversity of idioms in digital media. The usage of an idiomatic definition is necessary as an idiom's
meaning cannot be understood word forword. However, taking into account the sentence's context, it should be
interpreted asits whole.
