THE REPOSITION OF WOMEN'S ROLES: EXAMINING GENDER STEREOTYPE TOWARD WOMEN IN ‘BARBIE’ MOVIE AND ITS IMPACT ON THE NARRATIVE OF THE MOVIE

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami gender stereotype yang dilakukan oleh peran laki-laki terhadap peran Perempuan didalam film Barbie karya Greta Gerwig dan dampak tersebut pada narasi film keseluruhan termasuk Upaya Barbie dalam mereposisikan peran Perempuan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan teori gender stereotype. Dalam penelitian ini penulis menggunakan data primer yaitu film Barbie. Penulis memperoleh data dengan menonton film Barbie dan mencatat narasi yang berhubungan dengan tujuan penelitian. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah Barbie menghadapi gender stereotype yang dilakukan oleh karakter laki-laki dan hal tersebut berdampak sangat serius untuk peran barbie sehingga barbie memikirkan strategi untuk mereposisikan Kembali perannya dan Barbie Land. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa film ini menekankan prinsip kesetaraan dengan menunjukkan bahwa baik laki-laki maupun perempuan memiliki hak yang sama dalam pekerjaan atau mengekspresikan emosi tanpa stigma atau stereotip gender, serta pentingnya menghapuskan stereotip gender untuk memfasilitasi perkembangan semua individu tanpa batasan yang diberlakukan oleh masyarakat.
