The increasing penetration of internet users in Indonesia shows the importance of computer network reliability. One of the main challenges in providing network services is maintaining connectivity and minimizing downtime. This research analyzes and compares the performance of two network redundancy protocols, namely Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) and Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP), in an effort to reduce network failures and improve Quality of Service (QoS). The results show that VRRP is superior in packet loss when switching from master to backup, while HSRP is superior in packet loss when returning from backup to master. Additionally, HSRP has better failover performance than VRRP in some scenarios. Based on these results, HSRP is recommended for use in network topologies with redundancy to achieve higher reliability.
