DEIXIS USED IN THE SOUNDTRACKS LYRIC OF THE GREATEST SHOWMAN MOVIE RELEASED IN 2017

Deixis is one of the important issues in pragmatics. Deixis is a word or phrase that has a context both implicitly and explicitly that can refer to a person, place, or time in the utterance. Each deixis has a different function. That function is a context of deixis. The objective of this research is to understand deeply about the use of deixis and know how to understand what the speaker means in the utterance. The writer used the descriptive qualitative method to analyze the deixis in the three soundtracks lyric of The Greatest Showman movie, there are the greatest show, a million dreams, and this is me. The results of the analysis are the writer found five types of deixis in the three lyrics above, person deixis, spatial deixis, temporal deixis, discourse deixis, and social deixis. The writer found 137 deixes in the three soundtracks lyric, 68% person deixis, 19% spatial deixis, 7% temporal deixis, 5% discourse deixis, and 1% social deixis. From the result, person deixis is mostly used. By understanding the use of deixis and its context, the listeners can understand what the speaker conveys through the song.
