Racism Aspect of The Main Character in Straight Outta Compton Movie Directed by F. Gary Gray

Movie as a representation brings back the growing reality in society. The purpose of this study is to find out about the actions of racism in everyday life. The research was conducted through a film titled Straight Outta Compton released in 2015, Directed by F. Gary Gray. This movie tells the rise and fall of the Hip hop group from Compton, California, N.W.A. The title is taken from the name of the first studio album and the main song. The writer wants to analyze the causes, types and effects of racism. The writer chose the Straight Outta Compton movie and used the main character as the object of this study. The method of this research is qualitative descriptive method. The results of this study are: (1) Causes of racism from the main characters based on Grosfoguel's theory: Skin color, Culture, Ethnicity, Language or Religion. (2) Types of racism that are accepted by the main characters: Individual Racism, Institutional Racism, and Micro-Aggression. (3) Effect of racism received by the victim: Angry, Rude, Providing resistance and the impact of racism on the offender: Feeling superior, Not feeling wrong and assuming the action is right.
