ECO-CENTRISM IN ELIZABETH BISHOP

ABSTRACT 

Mega Audiary (31160139), Eco – centrism in Elizabeth Bishop Poems 

The objective of the result an analysis of eco – centrism in Elizabeth Bishop Poems,

there are The Fish and The Map by Elizabeth Bishop. The purpose of this analysis is

to gain an appreciation of a man and nature relationship, to begin human consciuosness

of natural world and to inform a new insight of an eco-centrism. In doing this research,

the writer uses descriptive qualitative method. The research was conducted by intense

and re-read the poems and also supporting data to the research. This research reveal

that eco-centrism is the centre of Bishop’s poems which imply in the lyrics and several

personal story from Bishop. It can be found that Bishop’s imply the eco-centrism

perspective in her poems, ecological concept in both of her poems and the expectation

for the readers by Bishop.
