BULLYING IN A GIRL LIKE HER MOVIE DIRECTED BY AMY S. WEBER

BSTRACT 

Monica Cahyani (31160177), Bullying in A Girl Like Her Movie Directed By 

Amy S. Weber 

The object of this paper is to know how bullying happens, the causes of the bully to

commit bullying and the effects of bullying to the victim in A Girl Like Her movie.

The writer uses descriptive qualitative method. To analyze the movie the writer

watches the movie several times and uses theories from books. The result of this

study are bullying happens by (1) Mocking (2)Bumping (3)Destroying Property

(4)Tripping (5)Pushing (6)Shoving (7)Throwing things and (8) Online. The causes of

the bully to commit bullying are (1)The bully wants to gain power, dominance and

control (2) The bully wants to gain social prestige as the outcome of bullying (3) The

bully home environtment is lack of warmth and lack of assertiveness in upbringing.

Meanwhile, the effects of bullying to the victim is the feeling of (1)Powerlessness

(2)Hopelesness (3)Fear (4)Shame and (5)Trapped and (6)Suicide Attempt.
