ECOCRITICISM IN THE DOCUMENTARY FILM BEFORE THE FLOOD DIRECTED BY FISHER STEVENS

ABSTRACT 

Agatya Mandatriana Napitupulu (31160141), Ecocriticism In The Documentary

Film Before The Flood Directed by Fisher Stevens 

In Indonesia, a number of environmental issues are still homework that requires

resolution. This problem becomes very crucial because it involves the quality of life in

the future. Examples of Indonesia's environmental problems are rubbish, floods, polluted

rivers, air pollution, damage to marine ecosystems, the difficulty of clean water, forest

destruction, abrasion, soil pollution, and global warming which are also the world's

problems today. The research method that will be used to study the film Before The

Flood is qualitative research. So, the final results are descriptive descriptions. Therefore,

this study is very suitable because the object of study is a social phenomenon that occurs

in a society. The results indicated that the form of environmental problems are presented

in the depiction of nature are pollution, wilderness, apocalypse and animals. Then the

author found the impact of climate change due to environmental problems such as using

renewable energy to reduce the use of fossiln fuels.
