ANTI-HERO OF MAIN CHARACTER IN VENOM MOVIE DIRECTED BY RUBEN FLEISCHER

ABSTRACT


 

Rifky Fadillah  Hidayat (31160211), Anti-Hero of Main Character in Venom

Movie Directed by Ruben Fleischer. 


The purpose of this study was to analyze students understanding of anti-hero characters 

in Venom movie, especially from the behaviors and effect that exist on anti-hero

characters. This study uses descriptive qualitative methods. Data collected through

movie are watched repeatedly and analyzed by the writer. This research focuses on

Merrell's theory of behaviors of anti-hero and uses Wilson's theory to examine the

effect of anti-hero characters. The results of this study show that some behaviors from

the main character anti-hero findings also show that the process of the behaviors of

anti-hero in Venom movie as understood by students is an arrogant, selfish, criminal

and rebellious character. It was found that anti-hero characters are very opposite

characters of superhero characters in general because anti-hero can be associated with

enemy terms, because most anti-hero characters don't hesitate to kill their opponents,

whereas if superheroes can't do it because superheroes is always good and not kill

anyone. In this analysis there is also an effect that is displayed in the anti-hero

characters in Venom movie, is no one listening and is stuck in the middle.
