PATRIOTISM VALUES IN SAVING PRIVATE RYAN MOVIE DIRECTED BY STEVEN SPIELBERG

ABSTRACT

 

Siti Rachmawati Puteri (31160185), Patriotism Value of Saving Private Ryan Movie Directed by Steven Spielberg.

 

This was an analysis about patriotisme value in Saving Private Movie who was directed by Steven Spielberg. This movie tells about Captain Miller’s struggle and some of his team to find Ryan until he can be found again. The purpose of this paper was to find out the kinds, the elements and the concepts of patriotism that are found in the movie. In analyzing this reseaerch, the writer used qualitative descriptive proposed by Walliman to analyze data. The writer used Saving Private Ryan movie as the main medium. The writer also used other data including books and articles as the second data to help find the patriotism values from the actors of the movie that can be applied in daily life. The data analyzed in the movie was the form of sayings from the actors who described the attitude of patriotism in the movie. The results of the analysis can be found that there are one kind of patriotism namely blind patriotism, one element of patriotism namely loyalty and one concept of patriotism namely extreme patriotism.
