CULTURE SHOCK OF THE MAIN CHARACTER IN THE LOST OF CITY Z MOVIE DIRECTED BY JAMES GRAY

ABSTRACT


 

Siti Nurenny (31160085), Culture Shock of The Main Character in The Lost of

City Z Movie Directed by James Gray 

This research discussed about students understanding on adaptation processes of

culture shock through The Lost of City Z movie which aimed to describe the process

of culture shock that understood by students of English literature department who

had studied about culture shock and watched The Lost of City Z movie. This research

focused on Collen Wards’s theory about culture shock. it also tried to see the

students who understood culture shock through movie. Then, the data were analysed

using descriptive qualitative method. The findings showed that the adaptation

processes of culture shock in The Lost of City Z movie as understood by students

were honeymoon phase, crisis phase, recovery phase, and adjustment phase. The

purpose of doing this analysis is to provide a clear data about Culture Shock also the

writer in analyzing Impacts are shown in The Lost of City Z movie and the moral

values that can be taken from The Lost of City Z movie. The research was conducted

by watching the whole movie and serving the data supporting the research.
