RACISM OF THE MAIN CHARACTER IN 12 YEARS A SLAVE MOVIE DIRECTED BY STEVE MCQUEEN

Tati Rizki (31150016), Racism of The Main Character in 12 Years A Slave Movie by Steve McQueen

This is the result of an analysis of Racism of The Main Character in 12 Years A Slave Movie by Steve McQueen, the purpose of doing this analysis is to provide a clear data about Racism also the writer analyzes the types and the effects of Racism in the movie. In doing this research the writer uses descriptive qualitative method. The research was conducted through watching the whole movie and serving the data supporting the research. The result of this research indicated that Racism is disparage people who are different from the majority people around such as skin color, race, religion, gender. Racism also can defined as intolerance towards women, immigrants, individuals of other religions and those who speak a different language, as for the result of the analysis, it can be found there are two types of racism in the main character such as individual-level racism, and also there are three effects of racism in the main character’s racism such as psychological & emotional damage.
