This journal explores the internal communication patterns implemented by the editorial team of Tangerang Ekspresin the process of news content selection. Amidst the growing challenges faced by print media in the digital era— marked by shifting public information consumption habits effective internal communication has become a key element in sustaining editorial operations. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method, with data collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews with the editor-in-chief and managing editor, and documentation of editorial activities. The findings reveal that internal communication operates through both vertical (downward and upward communication) and horizontal patterns, which complement each other. Vertical communication is reflected in the flow of instructions, coordination, and reporting that occurs hierarchically between
the editor-in-chief, managing editors, and reporters. Meanwhile, horizontal communication is evident in the form of peer discussions among editors and between editors and reporters to assess the newsworthiness of various issues. Communication channels include editorial meetings, informal daily discussions, and quick coordination via WhatsApp groups as a response to the fast-paced demands of the digital news environment. This study concludes that open communication, team collaboration, and active participation of all editorial members are essential to maintaining news quality. Adaptive and strategic internal communication management serves as a critical foundation for sustaining the relevance of local print media.
